Day 17: January 24, 2024
Planting Seeds of Wisdom
Passage: James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Ponder: In every person’s life there comes a point where we need to ask for some wisdom. It may be concerning a subject e.g. algebra, (don’t ask me how I know), or a certain project, e.g. car repairs, (again, just don’t). It really begins very early on as children, evidenced by the endless "why" questions they lob at their parents. As we grow older, our need for insight on life issues doesn't diminish, but our willingness to ask for and receive instruction diminishes as we become more self-reliant. Pride will often lead us to expend exhaustive energy attempting to make sense of something before ever asking for someone to share wisdom they may have that could help us along.
Your Heavenly Father possesses wisdom concerning your life - physical and spiritual. Wisdom that is far superior to your own or anyone making YouTube videos, and He promises to give you an abundant supply of His wisdom. He doesn't withhold or give based on your abilities or good deeds. In fact, the only thing holding back His wisdom is you asking and believing. He offers to give you wisdom in every situation of your life if you will simply bring it to Him. The seeds to plant for your harvest of Godly wisdom are asking and believing. In your asking, believing, and subsequent waiting, don't begin to second guess His ways and His timing. You've asked, and He's promised. When you receive it, act on it with a confident faith.
Practice: What do you need the Lord's wisdom in today? Have you brought it to Him, and are you believing a confident faith that He will give it?
Pray: Father, as creator of all things, I do believe that your wisdom is superior to all forms of man’s wisdom, mine included. Please forgive me for the times I am stubborn and insistent on my own way in this life. And I ask you Lord, each day, please give me your wisdom for my life, family, finances, and future. And I have confidence that you will grant as I need it. AMEN.
