Scripture:
Psalm 119:92
"If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction."
Reflection:
The psalmist makes a stunning confession: without finding pleasure and fulfillment in God's Word, he would not have survived his trials. God's Word wasn't just information—it was his lifeline during affliction. When hard times came, his hope was anchored in the power of Scripture.
Whatever affliction you're walking through—be it relational conflict, financial stress, health challenges, or spiritual warfare—you can find help, hope, peace, wisdom, direction, strength, assurance, and faith in what God says. But this requires making God's Word a daily part of your life, not just something you turn to in crisis.
Are you delighting in Scripture, or merely enduring it as a religious duty? The difference matters when storms come.
Prayer:
Lord, create in me a genuine delight for Your Word. Don't let me approach Scripture as a checkbox on my spiritual to-do list. Help me discover the pleasure, fulfillment, and life that comes from spending time in Your truth. When affliction comes, let Your Word be my anchor and my joy. Amen.
Action:
Set aside 15 minutes today to read Scripture without any agenda except to enjoy God's presence. Read slowly. Notice what brings you delight. Thank God for what you discover.
