Scripture:
Matthew 13:44 (NIV)
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
Reflection:
There are seasons in life when the things we lean on—jobs, relationships, health, possessions—can be shaken or even lost. In those moments, what truly holds us together is revealed. Jesus describes the kingdom as a treasure so valuable that it makes every other pursuit seem insignificant by comparison. The man who finds it is filled with joy, not reluctance, as he lets go of lesser things to gain what matters most.
Letting go is rarely easy, but when we see the beauty and worth of Christ, sacrifice turns to joy. He alone is secure and unfailing. Possessions may vanish, people may fail, and circumstances may change, but Jesus remains constant. When Christ is our treasure, our hearts are anchored in something eternal and unshakeable. Today, let your security be found in Him alone.
Prayer:
Jesus, open my eyes to see the surpassing worth of knowing You. Help me release my grip on anything I have clung to for security, and anchor my heart in Your unchanging love and presence. You are my treasure, my hope, and my firm foundation. Amen.
Action:
Reflect on something you have relied on for security or comfort. Consciously place it in Jesus’ hands through prayer. As a sign of trust, write out a gratitude list for the ways Christ has been your anchor in past storms.
