Scripture:
Philippians 3:8 (NIV)
“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…”
Reflection:
What we treasure most shapes our hearts, habits, and hopes. Let us examine our true treasures: “What occupies most of my attention? What determines my sense of security? What would be the hardest thing for me to give up if Jesus asked?”
Paul counted his former achievements, comforts, and even his identity as “loss” for the sake of knowing Christ. This isn’t about despising good things, but about refusing to let anything compete with Jesus for our ultimate loyalty and love. Jesus warned, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).
Deep down, is Jesus truly your treasure? Or have good things—career, relationships, security—become rivals for first place in your heart? Today, let the Spirit search you. True joy and security are found only when Christ is central and supreme. Every other treasure will fade, but gaining Christ is gaining everything.
Prayer:
Jesus, reveal anything in my life that I value more than You. Help me to treasure You above all else. Give me grace to let go of lesser things and to find my true joy and security in You. Amen.
Action:
Honestly answer the three “treasure test” questions from the sermon. What occupies most of my attention? What determines my sense of security? What would be the hardest thing for me to give up if Jesus asked? Share your answers with God in prayer, and ask Him to help you re-center your life on Christ.
