The Nearness of Christ’s Rule

Scripture:
Matthew 28:20b (NIV)
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Reflection:

The reign of Jesus is not only cosmic and universal; it is intimate and personal. The King who rules the universe also promises to be with me—every moment, every step. His presence is not reserved for mountaintop experiences or moments of worship, but is woven into the fabric of my ordinary days.
This nearness means I am never alone, never abandoned, no matter how isolated or misunderstood I may feel. Christ’s companionship is a steadying grace in joy and in sorrow, in clarity and confusion. When I am tempted to believe that God is distant or disinterested, I remember that Jesus’ last words to His followers were a promise of enduring presence: “I am with you always.”
His rule in my life is expressed not only in authority but in nearness—guiding, comforting, correcting, and empowering me. The King of kings walks beside me, inviting me to share every burden and every joy with Him.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for Your promise to be with me always. Open my eyes to Your presence in the everyday moments of my life. Help me to trust that You are near, even when I cannot feel You.

Action:

Pause at least three times today to simply acknowledge Jesus’ presence with you. Whisper a prayer or give thanks for His nearness in those moments.
