Scripture:
Ephesians 2:4–5 (NIV)
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
Reflection:
The reign of Jesus is inseparable from His love—a love so profound it crosses every barrier. Before I ever reached for Him, Christ reached for me while I was “dead in transgressions.” To be spiritually dead means I had no power, no spiritual pulse, no ability to respond to God on my own. Yet, Christ’s kingship is not like the distant or self-serving rulers of the world. He is “rich in mercy”—His resources of forgiveness and compassion never run dry.
This means my identity is not built on my achievements or failures, but on the unearned, unbreakable love of Christ. When I look at the cross and the empty tomb, I see a King whose authority is expressed through self-giving love, a love that lifts the unworthy and gives dignity to the overlooked. In Him, I find new life, belonging, and purpose—not because I earned it, but because He delights to give it.
His love doesn’t just save me; it transforms me and frees me to extend that same mercy to others, especially those who feel forgotten or unworthy. The reign of Christ is a reign of grace, where the lowly are lifted and the dead are made alive.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for loving me when I was lost and powerless. Help me never to forget or take for granted the mercy and grace You have poured out on me. Fill me with Your compassion so I can love others as You have loved me.
Action:
Reach out to someone who may feel overlooked or unimportant today, offering a word of kindness or practical help as a reflection of Christ’s love.
