Scripture:
Colossians 3:1-4 -
"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory."
Reflection:
The resurrection of Jesus isn't just about what happened 2,000 years ago or even what's happening in you today—it's about your eternal future. Because the Holy Spirit lives in you, death has no power over you. You will live forever. You're not going to float around as a disembodied spirit or a cartoon angel with wings. You will have a glorified body and will rule and reign with Christ over the nations. You'll live in the New Jerusalem—a place with no sickness, no disease, no sorrow, no tears, no death.
This isn't wishful thinking or religious fantasy—this is your certain future if you're in Christ. And this reality should change how you live today. When you know where you're headed, it transforms your perspective on current struggles. The disappointments, losses, and pains of this life are temporary. The glory that awaits is eternal. Paul says we should set our minds on things above—not to escape present reality, but to gain the perspective that helps us navigate it with hope and purpose.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that because of Jesus' resurrection, I have an eternal home waiting for me. Sometimes I get so caught up in the temporary concerns of this world that I forget the glorious future You have prepared for me. Help me live today in light of eternity. When I face disappointment, loss, or pain, remind me that this present suffering cannot compare to the glory that will be revealed. Give me an eternal perspective that brings hope to my current circumstances. Let the reality of my future with You shape how I live today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
