Scripture:
Proverbs 3:5-6 -
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Reflection:
Knowing the resurrection power of Jesus more deeply requires trusting and obeying Him in real time—in the moment, in the now. It's easy to talk ourselves out of what the Holy Spirit is prompting. We rationalize: "That was just me being emotional. That was probably just indigestion from last night's pizza, not the Holy Spirit speaking." But the truth is, as born-again believers, we hear the Holy Spirit more than we realize. We've simply aborted more Holy Spirit ideas than we've ever stepped into.
Growing deeper means learning to recognize His voice and then acting on it—even when it doesn't make complete sense, even when it feels risky, even when you're not 100% certain. The pastor shared honestly about not always knowing immediately what the Holy Spirit is leading him to do. None of us have it all figured out. But we grow by taking steps of faith, trusting God's direction even in uncertainty, and obeying what we know He's shown us in His Word.
Prayer:
Lord, I confess I've talked myself out of following Your promptings more times than I can count. I've let fear, doubt, and overthinking steal opportunities You wanted to give me. Teach me to recognize Your voice more clearly. Give me the courage to trust and obey You in real time—in the everyday moments and decisions of life. Help me take steps of faith even when I'm not completely certain, knowing that You're faithful to guide those who seek to follow You. Quiet the voices of fear and second-guessing, and amplify Your voice in my spirit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action:
Commit to immediate obedience today. When you sense the Holy Spirit prompting you to encourage someone, make a phone call, give financially, apologize, or take any other action—do it within five minutes if possible, before you have time to talk yourself out of it. Keep a journal throughout the day noting what you sensed God prompting and how you responded. At the end of the day, reflect on what happened when you trusted and obeyed in real time. Ask God to continue teaching you to recognize and respond to His voice more quickly.
