Scripture:
Matthew 24:4-5, 11
"Jesus answered: 'Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, "I am the Messiah," and will deceive many... and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.'"
Reflection:
Jesus warned that deception would increase like birth contractions—starting mild and infrequent, then intensifying until His return. We're living in those accelerating days. The urgency isn't about fear; it's about readiness. Jesus said the deception would be so convincing that even the elect could potentially be deceived. That's not meant to terrify us but to wake us up to the seriousness of staying close to Him. We don't have the luxury of treating faith casually, of knowing about Jesus without knowing Him personally. The time we spend scrolling, binging shows, or pursuing entertainment isn't inherently wrong—but what if we're giving hours to things that don't matter while neglecting the One who is eternal truth? Jesus is coming back. Demons know it and are working frantically. Do we live with that same sense of urgency, pressing in to know Jesus more deeply every single day?
Prayer:
Jesus, wake me up to the reality that You are coming back soon. Forgive me for living as though I have endless time to grow closer to You. Help me recognize the urgency of this moment—not to live in fear, but to live with purpose and passion for You. Show me what I need to lay down so I can pursue You wholeheartedly. I don't want to be deceived. I don't want to waste my life on things that don't matter. I want to know You deeply and finish well. Give me hunger for more of You, starting today. Amen.
Action:
Do an honest time audit today. Track how you spend your discretionary time (after work, responsibilities, etc.). How much time goes to entertainment versus time with Jesus? Don't shame yourself—just be honest. Then make one practical change: trade 15-30 minutes of screen time for time with Jesus. Read Scripture, worship, pray, or sit in His presence. Do this for the next seven days and notice how your hunger for Him grows. Journal what you're learning about Jesus each day
