Scripture:
Colossians 2:6-7
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
Reflection:
Jan Hus refused to recant truth even when it cost him his life. He sang hymns as he burned because he knew Jesus personally and was anchored in unchanging truth. While most of us won't face literal flames, we face constant pressure to compromise, to blend in, to accept lies as truth. Staying rooted in Jesus—through His Word, prayer, obedience, and community—keeps us standing when deception swirls around us. The call isn't to know more information; it's to stay intimately connected to the One who is Truth.
Prayer:
Lord, give me the courage to stand firm in truth regardless of the cost. Help me stay rooted in You when culture pressures me to compromise. When lies masquerade as light, give me discernment to see through the deception. I want to finish this life well, anchored to Jesus and His unchanging Word. Strengthen my faith and make me immovable in You. Amen.
Action:
Identify one area where you feel cultural pressure to compromise biblical truth. It might be in your workplace, on social media, or in relationships. Write down what Jesus' truth says about that issue. Then ask Him for courage to stand firm this week, and commit to one specific way you'll live out that truth.
