Scripture:
John 15:4
"Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."
Reflection:
To abide means to stay, to remain, to make your home in Christ. Just as counterfeit experts study genuine currency so thoroughly they instantly recognize fakes, we must immerse ourselves in Jesus so completely that deception becomes obvious. Abiding isn't a one-time decision—it's a daily practice of staying connected to Him through prayer, Scripture, worship, and obedience. When we abide in Jesus, we're surrounded by truth, and the lies of our generation lose their power over us.
Prayer:
Jesus, I want to abide in You—to make my home in Your presence. Teach me what it means to remain connected to You throughout my day, not just in my morning quiet time. Help me recognize when I'm drifting away from You and draw me back quickly. I want to be so close to You that I immediately sense when something isn't from You. Root me deeply in Your truth. Amen.
Action:
Practice "abiding awareness" today. Set reminders on your phone every 2-3 hours that simply say, "Jesus is here." When the reminder goes off, pause and acknowledge His presence with you. Tell Him one thing you're grateful for in that moment.
