"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
Reflection:
The Holy Spirit is constantly speaking, nudging, prompting—but are you listening? Throughout your day, God orchestrates divine appointments and opens doors for you to honor Jesus, witness for Him, or meet someone's need in His name. But these moments often come disguised as ordinary circumstances: a neighbor you pass on the sidewalk, a coworker who seems unusually quiet, a name that keeps coming to mind during prayer, an unexpected delay that puts you in a specific place at a specific time. Learning to recognize the Holy Spirit's voice is like tuning a radio—at first there's static and uncertainty, but with practice, His frequency becomes clearer. Ask yourself these questions when you sense a prompting: Will this honor Jesus before someone? Will it witness for Jesus? Will it help meet a need for Jesus? If the answer is yes, that's likely the Holy Spirit's nudge. The tragedy isn't that God doesn't speak; it's that we've become too distracted, too hurried, too self-focused to hear Him. But here's the beautiful promise: Jesus says His sheep know His voice. You can learn to recognize it.
Prayer:
Good Shepherd, thank You that You still speak to Your sheep. Forgive me for the times I've been too distracted or too busy to hear Your voice. Tune my heart to recognize Your promptings. Help me distinguish between my own thoughts, the enemy's lies, and Your gentle leading. I don't want to miss the divine appointments You've prepared for me today. Give me spiritual sensitivity and boldness to act when You speak. Train my ears to know Your voice and my heart to respond quickly. In Jesus' name, amen.
Action:
Set three alarms on your phone for random times today. When each one goes off, stop what you're doing and ask God: "Is there someone You want me to reach out to right now? Is there something You want me to do? Who needs encouragement, prayer, or help at this moment?" Then listen—and obey whatever comes to mind. Keep a journal of these moments and watch how God uses your availability.
