Making Jesus Lord

Scripture:
Colossians 1:18
"And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy."

Reflection:

To say Jesus is Lord is not just to acknowledge Him as Savior—it's to surrender control of your life to Him. It means He gets to tell you what to do. Your career, your relationships, your finances, your priorities—all of it is under His authority. The question isn't whether Jesus has the right to rule your life; He already does as your Creator and Redeemer. The question is: will you surrender? What are you holding onto that you need to release? Jesus brought you into this world with purpose. He will take you out with power over death. And in the meantime, He is sustaining you every single day.

Prayer:

Jesus, I confess that sometimes I want to be the boss of my own life. Forgive me for holding back areas I haven't fully surrendered to You. I acknowledge that You are Lord—not just of the universe, but of my life. I surrender my career, my relationships, my finances, my time, and my plans to You. Help me to worship You not just with my lips, but with my whole heart. You are Lord. Amen.

Action:

Complete this sentence in prayer: "Jesus, I surrender _____________ to Your Lordship." Be specific about what you've been holding back. Then take one concrete step this week to live out that surrender practically.
