Scripture:
"For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him." - Colossians 1:16
Reflection:
Jesus isn't first because He was created first—He's first because He is the Creator. Everything exists because of Him and for Him. When Paul calls Jesus "firstborn," he's talking about rank and position, not birth order. Jesus holds the highest place over all creation. Think about your tithe—when you give the first 10%, you're acknowledging that Jesus is first, above your bills, above your needs, above everything. Where you put Jesus in your life reveals what you really believe about His authority. Is He truly first in your decisions, your time, your relationships, your resources?
Prayer:
Jesus, I confess that sometimes I push You to the side. I let other things—my worries, my desires, my plans—take the first place that belongs to You alone. Forgive me. Help me put You first in every area of my life. You are the Creator; everything I have comes from You and belongs to You. Amen.
Action:
Identify one area of your life where Jesus isn't truly first. Make one specific change today to surrender that area to His lordship. It might be your schedule, your finances, a relationship, or a decision you're facing.
