Continue to Live in Him

  Scripture:
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." (Colossians 2:6-7 NIV)

  Reflection:

How did you receive Christ? By grace, through faith—trusting completely in His finished work, not your own efforts. Now Paul says: continue to live your life in Him the same way. Many Christians start with grace but then shift to performance. They're saved by faith but try to grow by effort. They trust Jesus for forgiveness but trust themselves for transformation. This isn't God's design. Daily, Jesus is actively moving you toward His intended purposes. You need His presence with you. You need His power working in and through you. You need to saturate your life with Jesus—allowing Him to be actively involved in everything, not just "spiritual" matters. Being rooted in Him means drawing your life from His life, like a branch connected to a vine. Being built up in Him means growing stronger through His strength, not your own. Being strengthened in faith means trusting Him more deeply each day. And the result? Overflowing with thankfulness—because you're experiencing His active work in your life.

  Prayer:

Jesus, I want to continue living in You the same way I received You—by grace through faith. Forgive me for the times I've tried to grow through my own effort rather than drawing life from You. Help me to abide in You daily, staying connected like a branch to the vine. I can't produce spiritual fruit on my own; it only comes through Your life flowing through me. Teach me what it means to be rooted in You, built up in You, strengthened by You. I don't want compartmentalized Christianity—I want You actively involved in every area of my life. Fill me with Your presence and power today. Amen.

  Action:
Today, practice "abiding" in practical ways. Before each major activity or transition in your day (starting work, having a conversation, running errands, facing a challenge), take 30 seconds to consciously invite Jesus into that moment. Say something like: "Jesus, I invite Your presence into this situation. I can't do this in my own strength. Work through me. Help me draw life from You right now." At the end of the day, journal about the difference you noticed when you intentionally included Jesus versus when you forgot and relied on your own resources. Begin developing a lifestyle of continual dependence and connection with Him. This is what it means to "continue to live your life in Him."
