"He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." (Hebrews 1:3 ESV)
Reflection:
Before we can fully grasp what Jesus has done for us, we need to understand who He is. Jesus isn't a created being like angels or humans—He is God Himself, the Creator who has existed forever. He is "the radiance of the glory of God"—meaning when you look at Jesus, you see God's glory perfectly displayed. He is "the exact imprint of his nature"—a precise representation of who God is. This same Jesus, who spoke the universe into existence and holds it together by His powerful word, chose to make purification for your sins. Let that sink in: the One who commands galaxies and sustains every atom bent low to cleanse you. Your Redeemer isn't some lesser deity or enlightened teacher—He is the fullness of God in human flesh. This means His sacrifice was sufficient, His power is unlimited, and His love for you is backed by infinite divine authority.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I've reduced You in my mind to something less than You truly are. You are not just a good teacher or moral example—You are God Himself, the radiance of the Father's glory. The same power that created and sustains the universe is the power that redeemed me. Help me worship You not just as Savior but as the eternal, all-powerful God. When I doubt whether You can handle my problems, remind me that You uphold the entire universe by Your word. If You can do that, You can certainly sustain my life. Amen.
