Reflection:
Think about something precious you once lost and later recovered. The joy of getting it back was likely proportional to what you paid to reclaim it. Jesus paid the ultimate price—His own blood—to redeem you. You were created by Him, belonged to Him, but gave yourself over to sin's bondage. The price for your redemption was too high for you to pay yourself. You were spiritually bankrupt. No amount of good works, religious effort, or self-improvement could cover the debt. But Jesus paid what you could never pay. The blood-stained cross stands as the receipt of payment for your salvation. This wasn't a loan requiring your repayment—it was a gift of immeasurable grace.
Prayer:
Jesus, I come to You today acknowledging that I could never pay the debt I owed for my sin. Thank You for loving me enough to pay the price Yourself. When I'm tempted to try earning Your acceptance through my own efforts, remind me that the work is finished. Help me rest in the completeness of Your sacrifice. I lay my sin-stained heart at the foot of Your cross and receive Your mercy with gratitude. Amen.
Action:
Take a few moments today to write down or mentally acknowledge specific sins Jesus has cleansed you from. Don't dwell in shame, but in gratitude. Thank Him specifically for each area of forgiveness.
