Scripture:
1 Corinthians 12:7 (NIV)
"Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."
Reflection:
When the Holy Spirit came to live in you, He brought spiritual gifts—abilities given by God to build up His church and advance His kingdom. You may have the gift of teaching, serving, hospitality, mercy, evangelism, giving, or encouragement. These gifts, combined with your natural abilities and unique life experiences, point toward your God-given assignment. The key is to abide in Jesus. The closer you get to Him, the more clearly you'll see what He's wired you to do. Stop comparing yourself to others. Your gifts are uniquely yours for a reason. God's kingdom needs what He's placed in you.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for the gifts You've placed within me. Help me discover them and use them for Your glory. Show me what motivates me for Your kingdom. Is it serving behind the scenes? Teaching Your Word? Showing mercy to the hurting? Bringing people together? I want to steward these gifts well. Guide me into opportunities to use what You've given me for the common good. Amen.
Action:
Make a list: (1) What spiritual activities energize you? (2) What natural abilities do you have? (3) What life experiences (even painful ones) has God brought you through? Ask God to show you how these three areas might point toward your purpose.
