Jesus—The Radiance of God's Glory

Scripture:
Hebrews 1:3
"He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power."

Reflection:

You can't look directly at the sun without damaging your eyes, yet you know it's there because of the light radiating around you. Similarly, God's holiness is so brilliant, so intense, that no one can look at Him and live. But Jesus radiates that glory to us in a way we can receive. He is the transparent revelation of who God is—His love, His justice, His compassion, His power. When you see Jesus healing the sick, you see God's heart. When you see Jesus welcoming sinners, you see God's grace. When you see Jesus confronting religious hypocrisy, you see God's holiness. Jesus doesn't just represent God or reflect God like the moon reflects sunlight—He radiates God's very nature because He IS God. Want to know what God thinks about you? Look at Jesus. Want to know how God feels toward your brokenness? Look at Jesus.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making Yourself known to me through Jesus. I cannot comprehend Your holiness, but You sent Jesus to radiate Your glory in a way I could see and understand. Open my eyes to see Your heart more clearly as I read about Jesus. Let His words become my wisdom, His character shape my choices, His compassion flow through my actions. I don't want to miss who You really are because of false teaching or distorted images of You. Show me Jesus, and I will see You. Amen.

Action:

Read one of the four Gospels today (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John)—even just one chapter. As you read, ask: "What does this show me about God's heart toward people?"
