Scripture:
2 Samuel 12:7, 9
"Then Nathan said to David, 'You are the man!'... Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes?"
Reflection:
David thought his problem was hidden sin—adultery and murder he'd covered up. But Nathan revealed the deeper issue: David had despised God's Word. We often focus on outward symptoms—anger, anxiety, bad habits—while God's Word exposes the root causes. Your anger might actually be unforgiveness. Your anxiety might be a failure to trust God. The Bible is still relevant because it functions like an MRI, revealing what's really going on beneath the surface so true healing can begin.
Prayer:
Lord, I don't want to just manage symptoms in my life—I want real transformation. Use Your Word to reveal the root causes of my struggles. Show me what's really driving my attitudes and actions. Give me courage to face what You reveal and grace to find healing. Amen.
Action:
Think about a persistent struggle in your life. Ask God: "What's the root issue beneath this symptom?" Spend time reading Scripture (like Ephesians 4 on anger or Matthew 6 on anxiety) and journal what God reveals about the deeper heart issue.
