Trusting God with the Outcomes

Scripture:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Reflection:
One of the hardest parts of acting justly is trusting God with what happens next. When you do the right thing and it costs you the promotion, when you're honest and it means financial loss, when you're fair and others take advantage—it can feel like you're losing.
But here's the truth: when you do the right thing, you never lose God. You may lose the opportunity, the money, or the recognition, but you keep your integrity, your peace, and God's favor. And God has a way of making up the difference in ways we never could have orchestrated ourselves.
Think about the horse trailer story from the sermon. The buyer could have negotiated hard and walked away with extra money in his pocket. Instead, he sensed God leading him to be generous, to honor the seller's fairness with his own. That's what it looks like to trust God with outcomes—you do what's right and leave the results in His hands.
This is especially critical for men who are providers and protectors. The pressure to secure your family's future can tempt you to compromise. But God is asking you to trust Him enough to do things His way, even when His way doesn't seem to make financial sense, even when it means waiting longer, even when it looks like you're falling behind. He promises to direct your paths when you submit your ways to Him.

Prayer:

Father, I confess that sometimes I'm more focused on outcomes than on obedience. I get anxious about providing, about succeeding, about securing my future. Help me to trust You enough to do the right thing and leave the results in Your capable hands. You know what I need before I ask. You see the big picture I cannot see. Give me faith to believe that when I honor You with my choices, You will honor me with Your provision and direction. I surrender my need to control outcomes and choose to trust You completely. Amen.

Action:

Identify one situation where you've been holding back from doing the right thing because you're worried about the outcome. Maybe it's a conversation you need to have, a restitution you need to make, or a stand you need to take. Today, do the right thing and consciously release the outcome to God. Write down this commitment and the date, then watch over the coming weeks and months how God works when you trust Him.
