Building the Men God Expects

Scripture:
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." - Proverbs 27:17

Reflection:

Victory Family Church's vision for men is clear: building the men that God expects, that families want, and that the church needs. This isn't about becoming perfect—it's about becoming faithful. It's about being men who act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.
You don't have to have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to let God shape you. The expectations placed on men can feel overwhelming—provider, protector, priest, leader, servant. But when we focus on God's three core requirements, everything else falls into place. Act justly: do the right thing. Love mercy: give yourself for others. Walk humbly: depend on God.
The world needs men who will stand firm in their convictions, who will love sacrificially, who will lead with integrity, and who will point others to Jesus. Not perfect men, but present men. Not men who have all the answers, but men who know where to find them. You have the Holy Spirit empowering you for this calling. Now step into it.

Prayer:
Lord, I want to be the man You've called me to be the man my family needs, the man my church can count on, and most importantly, the man who honors You. Thank You for not leaving me to figure this out on my own. Your Spirit lives in me, empowering me to do what I cannot do in my own strength. Help me to surround myself with other men who will sharpen me, challenge me, and encourage me in this journey. Give me courage to lead, humility to serve, and faithfulness to keep walking with You every day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Action:

Take a concrete step toward community with other Christian men. This could mean:
  • Signing up for the Victory Family Church men's breakfast in July
  • Reaching out to another man this week to grab coffee and talk about your faith journey
  • Joining or starting a men's small group or accountability partnership
  • Identifying one younger man you could mentor or one older man who could mentor you
Don't walk this journey alone. Iron sharpens iron, and you need brothers in Christ who will help you become the man God expects, your family wants, and your church needs.
