Scripture:
Hebrews 4:12-13; 1 Corinthians 13:4
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart... Love is patient, love is kind."
Reflection:
"You don't bump into a double-edged sword without something happening," the pastor declared. God's Word is meant to make us uncomfortable when we're out of alignment with His will. The sermon gave the example of reading "love is patient" and suddenly realizing you haven't been patient with your spouse. That's conviction - and it's a gift, not a punishment. God loves you too much to leave you in your sin. Like a loving father correcting a child who's learned to take toys from others, God corrects us not to condemn but to restore. The check engine light in your life isn't there to shame you; it's there to guide you back to health. Will you let God's Word do its convicting work today?
Prayer:
Father, I invite Your Word to search me and know my heart today. Show me where I'm out of alignment with Your character and purposes. I confess that conviction can be uncomfortable, but I know it comes from Your love. Help me receive correction with humility rather than defensiveness. Where I've been impatient, make me patient. Where I've been unkind, make me kind. Transform me by Your Word. Amen.
Action:
Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 slowly, pausing after each characteristic of love. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you one specific area where you're falling short. Confess it to God, receive His forgiveness, and identify one person you need to love better in that specific way today. Then do it.
