The Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever

Scripture:
Hebrews 13:8
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."

Reflection:

We've journeyed through this week exploring why God's Word is still relevant in the 21st century. The answer is simple yet profound: because God has not changed, humanity has not changed, and Jesus has not changed.
The same Jesus who healed the sick, forgave the sinful, comforted the broken, and conquered death 2,000 years ago is the same Jesus who meets you in your need today. The same Holy Spirit who empowered the early church is the same Spirit living in you. The same Father who loved the world enough to send His Son still loves you with an everlasting love.
Progressive voices may call for a "new" Bible or a "modern" interpretation that fits our culture. But we don't need a new Bible—we need to encounter the living God revealed in the Bible we have. We don't need Scripture to change; we need to be changed by Scripture.
The pastor reminded us that God's Word has endured for over 3,000 years. It's been burned, banned, and banished—yet it remains. Over 7 billion copies distributed. Why? Because it addresses the deepest needs of the human soul in every generation. Because it reveals the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
As you close this week of devotions, remember: you are not anchoring your life in an outdated book. You are anchoring your life in the eternal, unchanging Word of the living God. And that Word—Jesus Christ Himself—will never fail you.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Thank You that Your Word endures when everything else fades. Thank You that I can build my life on the solid rock of Scripture and never be shaken. Help me to stand firm when culture pressures me to compromise. Give me courage to proclaim that Your Word is true, relevant, and powerful. And help me to live in such a way that others see You—the living Word—in me. Amen.

Action:

Take a moment to write out your personal declaration of faith in God's Word. Complete this sentence: "I believe God's Word is relevant to my life today because..." Then share your declaration with one person this week—a friend, family member, or co-worker who needs to hear why you trust Scripture. Let your confidence in God's Word be a testimony to His unchanging faithfulness.
