Scripture:
"I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew... Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious." (Romans 11:1-2, 11)
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May those who love you be secure.'" (Psalm 122:6)
Reflection:
God is not finished with Israel. Though we live in what Scripture calls "the age of the Gentiles," Israel remains under God's covenant promise to Abraham. Daniel's prophecy revealed 70 weeks (490 years) decreed for Israel—69 have been fulfilled, but one final "week" (seven years) remains: the tribulation period. At the end of that time, Israel will recognize Jesus as Messiah and He will return to defend them. This isn't replacement theology where the Church takes Israel's place—we've been grafted in alongside them. When people question why Christians support Israel or wave an Israeli flag, remember: God's promises to Israel are irrevocable. Until Jesus returns and Israel calls on His name, we have a responsibility to pray for them, support them, and stand with them—not because they're perfect, but because God isn't finished with His plan.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to Israel through centuries of wandering, rebellion, exile, and return. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem today. Open the eyes of the Jewish people to recognize Jesus as their Messiah. Protect Israel from her enemies. Give me a heart that aligns with Yours—that loves what You love and prays for what You're still doing. Help me stand with Israel in prayer and support. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action:
