Scripture:
"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." (Matthew 16:18)
Reflection:
Jesus didn't say, "I might build my church" or "I hope to build my church." He said, "I will build my church." Despite attacks, persecution, cultural hostility, and internal struggles, Jesus is still building His church. The gates of hell will not prevail against it. This promise isn't just about the global Church—it's about your local church too. When attendance drops, when challenges come, when discouragement creeps in, remember: Jesus is the builder. Our role is to make ourselves available, to lay down our flesh, to ask God what He wants to do through us. The question isn't whether God will keep building—it's whether we'll participate in what He's building.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You promised to build Your church, and I believe You are faithful to that promise. Forgive me when I grow discouraged or distracted. Show me what You need to crucify in my life—my pride, my comfort, my preferences—so I can fully participate in what You're building. Raise up Your church in power. Use me as You see fit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action:
Ask God this question in prayer: "What do You need to do in me so You can work through me to build Your church?" Write down what comes to mind and take one concrete step this week.
