More Than Human Authorship

Scripture:
2 Peter 1:20-21
"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."

 Reflection:

The Bible doesn't just claim to be a good book with helpful wisdom—it claims to be God-breathed, carried along by the Holy Spirit through human hands. Think about the "God factor" mentioned in the sermon: 44 authors who never met in a coffee shop to coordinate their storyline, yet they tell one unified story of paradise lost and paradise restored. Only divine inspiration could accomplish that. This means when you open Scripture, you're not just reading ancient religious texts; you're encountering the very thoughts and heart of God. He wanted you to know Him, so He made sure His Word got to you.

 Prayer:

Holy Spirit, thank You for inspiring Scripture and preserving it through the centuries. Forgive me for the times I've treated the Bible as just another book on my shelf instead of Your living Word to me. Open my eyes to see beyond the human authors to You, the Divine Author. Help me approach Your Word with reverence, expectation, and faith. Amen.

 Action:

Today, before you read any Scripture, pause and pray: "Holy Spirit, You inspired these words. Now illuminate them to my heart." Then read one chapter from the Gospel of John or Romans. Notice how inviting God into your reading changes your experience of His Word.
