Standing Firm in Deceptive Times

 Scripture:
Matthew 24:4-5, 11
"Jesus answered: 'Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, "I am the Messiah," and will deceive many... and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.'"

 Reflection:

Jesus warned that deception would increase as we approach the end times. We're seeing this happen before our eyes—progressive Christianity, religious leaders twisting Scripture to accommodate cultural trends, prominent voices promoting a "Jesus" who looks nothing like the Jesus of the Bible.
But Jesus didn't give this warning to frighten us—He gave it to prepare us. When we're anchored to God's Word, we can recognize deception. When we know what Jesus actually said and did (recorded in Scripture), we won't be fooled by false teachers offering a counterfeit.
Our calling isn't to be angry at deceived people, but to be grieved by the deception itself and to be faithful witnesses to truth. With love and conviction, we must hold up God's Word as the measuring line, calling people back to the real Jesus revealed in Scripture.

 Prayer:

Father, thank You for warning us about the increase of deception in these last days. Guard my heart and mind against false teaching. Help me to test everything I hear against Your Word. Give me love for those who are deceived, not anger, and make me a faithful witness to Your truth. Use me to point people to the real Jesus, the One revealed in Scripture, not the false versions being promoted in our culture. Give me courage to stand firm. Amen.

 Action:

This week, when you encounter a religious teaching (online, in media, or in conversation), practice discernment. Ask: "Does this align with Scripture? Is this the Jesus of the Bible, or a different Jesus?" If you identify something that contradicts God's Word, graciously share the truth with someone who needs to hear it. Don't argue—simply point them back to what Scripture actually says.
