2 Timothy 3:16-17
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Reflection:
Just like the measuring stick in Gilligan's Island that was being moved deeper into the water, creating false readings, our culture is constantly moving the measuring line of God's truth. People claim there are "new understandings" or "progressive interpretations" of Scripture, but God's Word remains the fixed standard. When we allow culture to move the measuring stick, we lose our ability to discern truth from deception.
The Bible isn't just another book of wisdom—it's God-breathed. This means God Himself inspired every word, making it the unchanging standard by which we measure everything else. In a world of shifting opinions and relative truth, we desperately need this fixed point of reference.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving us Your Word as our measuring line for truth. Help me to recognize when culture, media, or even well-meaning voices are trying to move that standard. Give me wisdom to measure every teaching, every idea, and every cultural movement against the unchanging truth of Scripture. Protect me from deception and anchor my life firmly to Your Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.
