The Measure of All Things

Scripture:
Psalm 119:105, 160
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path... The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever."

 Reflection:

The word "canon" means measuring line—and the 66 books of the Bible are our measuring line for truth. When someone claims, "The Bible supports abortion" or "Scripture affirms same-sex marriage" or "You can achieve godhood through temple rituals," we measure those claims against God's Word. And when they don't line up, we know we're dealing with deception. The Bible isn't just one voice among many—it's THE voice of the Creator who knows us better than we know ourselves. It's not antiquated or irrelevant; it's timeless and authoritative. Parts of this book are 3,000 years old and still speak directly to the issues we face today because God is unchanging. Human wisdom comes and goes like flowers that bloom and fade, but God's Word stands forever. When culture shifts, when trends change, when popular opinion evolves, the Word of the Lord remains our anchor. It's the lamp that lights our path when everything around us is darkness. It's the truth that endures when everything else crumbles. Make God's Word your measuring line for every decision, every belief, every question.

 Prayer:

Lord, thank You for giving me Your Word as a lamp and a light. In a world of shifting opinions and competing voices, help me return again and again to Scripture as my measuring line. When I'm confused, lead me to Your Word. When I'm tempted to compromise, anchor me in Your truth. Let Your Word be the foundation of my life, my family, and my faith. Amen.

 Action:

Take inventory of your beliefs. Write down 2-3 cultural issues or personal questions you're wrestling with (relationships, identity, purpose, morality, current events). Then commit to searching Scripture for God's perspective on each one. Use a concordance, Bible app, or ask your pastor for guidance on where to look. Let God's Word—not cultural trends or personal feelings—become your measuring line.
