The Grave—Defeating Death

Scripture:
Revelation 1:18
"I am the living one. I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."

Reflection:
Jesus didn't bypass death—He went straight through it. For three days, He was buried in a borrowed tomb (because He wasn't planning to stay long). In that time, He stripped Satan of his authority over death and hell. When Jesus emerged victorious, He carried the keys—the authority—over death itself.
This means death no longer has the final say over your life. The "sting" that once held power—the guilt, the fear, the unknown judgment—has been removed for those who follow Christ. You will face physical death, but it's no longer final. It's not a period but a comma in the sentence of your eternal story.
Because Jesus lives, death has become a doorway, not a dead end. The enemy you once feared has been defeated. You can walk through that valley without terror because Jesus has already been there and come out the other side—and He's holding the door open for you.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for facing death on my behalf. Thank You for taking the keys and removing the sting. When I face fear about death—my own or those I love—remind me that You hold all authority. Help me to live with the confidence that death is not final for those who belong to You. Give me peace that surpasses understanding. Amen.

Action:

If you carry fear about death, write down that fear and then write Revelation 1:18 over it. Declare aloud: "Jesus holds the keys. Death has no authority over me." Keep this somewhere visible as a reminder of His victory.
