Scripture:
Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Reflection:
When the crowd realized Jesus wasn't going to be the political deliverer they wanted, they chose the easy road—back to Caesar, back to the familiar, back to the wide path. Jesus warned that the road to life is narrow and difficult, and few find it. The wide road is easy, comfortable, and crowded. It doesn't require sacrifice or surrender. But it leads to destruction. The narrow road requires us to die to ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus—even when it's hard, even when we're misunderstood, even when we stand alone. Today, you stand at a crossroads. Which road will you choose? The cross of Jesus Christ is your choice. Reject it and face eternal separation from God—existence in darkness, absent of His presence, with every longing unsatisfied forever. Accept the cross and receive life—full, abundant, eternal life in the presence of the King, where there is no sorrow, no sin, no darkness, only the radiant light of God's glory. Today is your day of salvation. Today you can cross the lineand cling to the cross. Don't wait. Don't draw another line in the sand to keep Jesus at a distance. Choose the narrow road that leads to life.
Prayer:
Jesus, I choose the narrow road today. I know it won't be easy, but I'd rather walk the difficult path with You than the easy road without You. Thank You for going to the cross for me, for bearing my sins in Your body, for dying so I could live. I accept Your sacrifice. I cross the line. I cling to the cross. I surrender my life completely to You. You are my King, my Savior, my Lord. Lead me on the narrow road, and give me strength to follow wherever it leads. Amen.
Action:
Make a declaration today: "I am a follower of Jesus Christ." Share this decision with someone—a friend, family member, or pastor. If you've been living on the wrong side of the line, today is your day to cross over. If you're already following Jesus, recommit yourself to the narrow road. Identify one specific way you've been choosing the wide, easy path and take a concrete step toward the narrow road instead. Then invite someone to join you at church next Sunday for Resurrection Sunday—it could change their life for eternity.
