Scripture:
Proverbs 3:5-6 (The Message)
"Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track."
Reflection:
Worry has been called "misguided imagination"—we imagine the worst-case scenarios, the endless "what ifs" that rarely come to pass. We lie awake thinking that if we just strategize long enough, we can control the outcome. But Jesus asks a piercing question: "Can worrying add a single hour to your life?" The answer is no. In fact, doctors tell us worry can actually harm our health and shorten our lives. The alternative to misguided imagination is guided faith—trusting God from the bottom of your heart instead of trying to figure everything out on your own. When you listen for God's voice in everything you do, He keeps you on track. Faith doesn't mean you stop being responsible; it means you stop playing God. You take the steps He's given you to take, and you trust Him with the results.
Prayer:
Father, I confess that my imagination often runs wild with worst-case scenarios. I've invested my trust in my own wisdom instead of Yours. Forgive me for the sleepless nights spent trying to solve problems that only You can handle. Today I choose to trust You from the bottom of my heart. I'm listening for Your voice in everything I do. Show me the next faithful step, give me the strength to take it, and help me trust You with everything beyond that. Keep me on track, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action:
Create a "Fear vs. Faith" list. On one side, write down your current worries and the worst-case scenarios you've imagined. On the other side, write what God's Word says about each situation or what you know to be true about God's character. When anxiety strikes, read the faith side out loud. Replace fear words with faith words throughout your day.
