Scripture:
Matthew 6:25-27
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Reflection:
Worry is taking on a responsibility God never intended you to have. When anxiety wakes you in the middle of the night, nothing has actually changed since you went to bed—only your perspective. Jesus reminds us that worry is like revving an engine in park: lots of noise and energy expended, but no forward progress. The birds don't frantically hoard or obsess over tomorrow's provision, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. How much more does He value you, His beloved child? Worry doesn't add time to your life; it only steals peace from your present.
Prayer:
Father, I confess that I often carry burdens You never asked me to bear. When worry grips my heart at 3 AM or any hour, remind me that You are awake, You are aware, and You are in control. Help me distinguish between my responsibilities and Yours. Teach me to steward what You've given me while trusting You completely with the outcomes. Replace my anxious thoughts with the peace that passes understanding. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action:
This week, when worry strikes, write down what you're anxious about. Then ask yourself: "Is this my responsibility or God's?" If it's yours, take the next faithful step. If it's God's, pray and release it to Him. Keep a list of worries that never came to pass as a reminder of wasted energy.
