From Mine to His

   Scripture:
2 Corinthians 9:10-11
"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God."

  Reflection:
God gives us seed for two purposes: to meet our needs (bread for food) and to sow into His purposes (seed for sowing). He enriches us not so we can build bigger barns, but so we can be generous on every occasion. When we give generously, it results in thanksgiving to God—others see His provision through our generosity and praise Him. The cure for greed is generosity. This week, practice "mine to His"—give something (an amount, an item, an act of service) to Him or to someone in His name. Break the grip of greed by doing the opposite of what it demands.

  Prayer:

Father, thank You for supplying seed to me—both for my needs and for sowing into Your kingdom. Help me to be generous on every occasion, not hoarding what You've given but sharing it freely. May my generosity point others to You and result in thanksgiving to Your name. Break any grip of greed in my heart and replace it with a spirit of joyful giving. Amen.

  Action:

Do a "mine to His" action today: Give an amount to God's work, give an item to someone who needs it in Jesus' name, or perform an act of service that costs you something (time, money, or convenience). Do something that breaks the pattern of greed and demonstrates that God, not money, is your master.
