The Test of Prosperity

       Scripture:
Matthew 6:24
"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

  Reflection:

Prosperity isn't a trophy to display—it's a test to reveal where our hearts truly lie. When increase comes, what's our first thought? Is it all the things we've been waiting to buy, or is it "What does God want me to do with this?" Money measures our hearts more than anything else physical on this earth. The rich man failed the test when his abundance arrived because he immediately thought only of himself. Jesus makes it clear: we must choose between serving God or serving money. We cannot do both. Where does God fit into your thought process when it comes to money and wealth?

  Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I recognize that prosperity is a test of my heart. When You bless me with increase, help my first thought to be of You and Your purposes. I choose today to serve You, not money. Show me where money may have taken a place in my heart that belongs only to You. Give me wisdom to manage what You've entrusted to me in ways that honor You. Amen.

  Action:

Think about your last financial windfall—a bonus, tax refund, or unexpected money. What was your first thought? Today, if you have any savings or upcoming income, ask God specifically: "What do You want me to do with this?" Write down what comes to mind and commit to following through.
