Scripture:
2 Timothy 2:2
"And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."
Reflection: God's command to the exiles was clear: "Multiply there, and do not decrease." This wasn't just about having children—it was about a mindset of expansion, growth, and investment in the future. In a 70-year exile where two entire generations would die before returning home, God was calling them to think beyond their own lifetimes.
The average lifespan in 6th century Babylon was only 25-30 years. Those who first heard Jeremiah's letter wouldn't see the promised return. Neither would their children. It would be their grandchildren or great-grandchildren who would finally go back to Jerusalem. Yet God called them to build, plant, and multiply anyway, not for themselves, but for a generation they would never meet.
This is the multiplication mentality the church desperately needs today. We can't be content with "us four and no more." We can't hoard what God has given us or protect our comfort at the expense of growth. Every person who encounters Christ should be equipped and empowered to bring others to Christ. Every generation should be preparing the next generation to go further than they did.
The question isn't whether you're comfortable with the church as it is, the question is whether you're willing to invest in what it needs to become for people who aren't here yet.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for times I've had a scarcity mindset instead of a multiplication mindset. Forgive me for being content with my own spiritual growth while neglecting to invest in others. Give me Your heart for multiplication, help me see that every blessing, every lesson, every breakthrough You've given me is meant to be passed on. Show me who I can pour into, mentor, and equip. Help me think beyond my own generation and invest in those who will carry the gospel forward when I'm gone. Give Victory Family Church a spirit of multiplication that refuses to decrease. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action:
Identify one spiritual truth, skill, or lesson God has taught you that could benefit someone else. This week, intentionally share it with at least two people, one from your generation and one from a younger generation. This could be through a conversation, a text of encouragement, or inviting them to serve alongside you. Practice multiplication by giving away what God has given you. Additionally, pray specifically this week for Victory Family Church to grow, not just in numbers, but in spiritual depth and community impact. Ask God to bring new families, new believers, and new laborers into the harvest.
