AN OVERFLOWING ABUNDANCE OF FRUIT
LET’S READ
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
LET’S CONSIDER
Have you ever heard of a pluot, plumcot, or a kallette? These are just a few of the many hybrid fruits that scientists have created by cross pollinating the seeds of various fruits together. They are man-made fruit. God told Adam that He was giving him all the fruit bearing trees in the garden to eat from. Well, except for that one. None of those original trees produced a pluerry, or a peacharine (this one actually sounds kind of good). In fact, you still have to have a good old raspberry, loganberry and blackberry to produce a boysenberry. In God’s design, an apple seed gives you a bright red juicy apple. The real seed produces the real deal.
When the seed of the Holy Spirit is poured into your life with overflowing measure, He produces the real deal within you. This “fruit” of the Spirit that Paul identifies is the very nature of Christ Jesus. Take another look at those nine attitudes and see them in Jesus. That means that with the overflow of the Holy Spirit’s activity in your life, you will demonstrate and thus be identified as having the nature of Jesus dwelling within you. With Jesus, there is no hybrid fruit. He is the real deal, and He is growing the real deal in you today.
LET’S ACT
What evidence of the fruit of the Spirit is growing in you presently? What piece of the nature of Jesus do you need Him to give special attention to?
LET’S PRAY
Lord, you are complete love, joy, peace, patience and each of the fruit of the Spirit. I ask you today Lord to help me identify a specific fruit that you want to enrich and develop further in me in this season. And feel free to do so as I will yield to your growing moments. Amen.
