Day 7: January 15, 2023
LET’S READ
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
LET’S CONSIDER
Do you recall as a child just how unfamiliar much of life was? Such little time on earth at that point, and yet so much to learn and understand. It was often overwhelming. “Likely, you found assurance in the presence of someone older, bigger, and more confident than you. It may have been a parent, an older sibling, or in my case, a friend in eighth grade who was six-foot-two and had a beard. I was often emboldened to smart off or pick on someone when Brent was around. That is until one time at the bus stop Brent let me take my licking without standing up for me. But that’s a story for another time.
As we grow older, we may mature in our understanding of many things in life, but we are still working our way through, and often, uncertain and even insecure. Joshua, now called to replace Moses, was most certainly feeling uncertain and probably a little insecure. But God gave Joshua the assurance that he can walk through that valley of giants and take it for God’s Kingdom. The assurance for Joshua, and for you today, is that you don’t go anywhere today that God is not present with you. And whatever He has lined out for you in relationship to Him, you will face it, possess it and thrive in it, because, the Lord your God is with you, wherever you go.
LET’S ACT
What are you feeling insecure about right now? How does knowing God is present with you assure you today?
LET’S PRAY
Lord, you know my fears and areas of insecurity today. I really want to fulfill what you have purposed for me in relation to you, but I admit, I don’t understand how to in all areas of my life. Please help me to grasp how real your presence with me is, and give me the assurance that with you, I can and will succeed. Amen.
