21 Days of Prayer and Fasting Day 3

Day 3: January 12

Read: 1 John 5:14-15 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

Reflect: These verses can really elevate our faith as we pray. John actually says that we can have “confidence” (assurance, frankness, bluntness) when we commune with God in prayer. Unfortunately, we often lack confidence, not that He can’t or won’t meet our need, but we struggle with confidence in knowing if we are even connecting with and communicating to Him
in a way that He even hears and appreciates. But John, the very close and personal friend of Jesus, assures us that we can know His will. There is no better source for ascertaining the will of God, than His Word, in which He reveals Himself and His will to us. Make it a point to discover God’s promise from the Bible concerning your need today, and pray that very promise in a personal way.

Respond: What is a promise from God’s Word that speaks to your present need?

Request: Lord, I thank you that when I pray according to your will, you hear and respond. I admit, I’m often unsure if I know your will or not. Help me to grow forward this year in learning and discerning your will more clearly through the promises of your Word and how to pray them over my family, my church, and my community.

I constantly pray for wisdom. Specifically because the word says wisdom shall be given freely to those who ask. And if wisdom is greater than gold and silver, then Gods given away riches and we need only reach out our hands! Countless times I have asked for wisdom and received it. Here are some verses I reference in my prayer so that I know I can fully expect to receive the wisdom I ask for because God promises it. James 1:5 : Ps 51:6; Da 1:17; 2:21; S Mt 7:7

I am trusting in God’s promise from Jeremiah 29:11. He has plans to give me a hope and a future! In times of uncertainty, I trust in that promise.
