21 Days of Prayer and Fasting Day 2

Day 2: January 11
Read: Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Reflect: With so much news and information flooding our minds through multiple modes of media, we can become overwhelmed and anxious. Things that are beyond our control, seem to take control on our thoughts and emotions. These are days of extreme stress for all of us. The Lord knows that life is stressful, and we will have to face it head on, but here, Paul reminds us that we don’t face it alone and without hope or help. We have the privilege of calling out to the Lord who is near to us, knowing that He hears us, and that He cares for us. He promises peace to our troubled hearts, that in turn gives us His strength to carry on in the midst of constant chaos with courage and confidence in Him.

Respond: What triggers your anxiety? What is Jesus able to do to relieve your present fears and stress? Why not ask Him right now to do just that?

Request: Lord, I pray that you will cast my fears down, and that you will fill me with courage and boldness. Help me and all my brothers and sisters at Victory Family Church to advance your kingdom purposes and power throughout our community, that those living in fear of the uncertainty and chaos of the present days may know your peace.

God is showing me that when we feel defeated or worn down, we need to praise! Our minds can get so caught up in the negative things of life that it can be overwhelming. Praise to our Father brings peace and can shift our mindset from an attitude of worry to an attitude of trust.
